imm 0008 schedule 1

another question from imm 0008 schedule 1 it says "Indicate whether you are 1. the principal 2. the spouse, common-law or dependent child aged 18 year or older of the principal applicant

my question is: i am sponsoring my spouse we dont have any dependent child or any other member included in our application, does he check the box 1 and 2? because im confused he is the principal applicant and he is my spouse as well.
need help for clarification in regards with this.

IMM 0008-1 Schedule 1 is to be filled out by the Applicant (the person being sponsored) in your case it's your spouse (wife? husband?).

so your spouse should check "The principal applicant". The other box is when, for example, you're sponsoring your parents or other dependents who are married, but it doesnt apply if you are only sponsoring your spouse.
