My wife and I landed in June 2011 in Alberta. She came in as a post doctoral fellow on a two year contract at a university and I am on an open spousal work permit.  She lost her position.  I have a position in technology making over $160k per year.  My job is very stable in a growing company. Assuming because of her specialty she can't get another job, what is my situation regarding my open spousal work permit and employment for the balance of the two years? Are we permitted to stay based on my job alone or what must I do such that we can stay in Canada? We are both US citizens.

Thanks in advance.
