It depends on country you come from, if it has a non-visa contract with USA you can go with any problems.

If country which You come from needs VISA to enter USA then you should probably apply for it.

If you needed a travel visa to go to the USA before you got your PR card, you will still need one afterwards.  However, it might be easier for you to get a visit visa to the US with a PR card as they might see you as less of a risk to overstay.  Once you get Canadian citizenship, you will not need a visa to visit the US.

well, if you haven't got your PR card and you already have used your Canada PR Visa then you also need an additional visa to come back to Canada.

Because you can only use your Canada PR Visa once.

If you are going by road then COPR document will allow to enter in Canada but not by Air.

I think he meant time (~3-6 months) after landing when you will not have a PR card on your hand, you will have only landing documents.

Loen and Canadp has explained well.
Once you get a PR visa, come to Canada, complete the landing formalities, get the PR Card, SIN, health Card etc. If you apply for a US visa shortly after landing, without securing a job or before establishing your ties here in Canada, there are  possibilities for rejection of the US visa application, stating the reason that:

"You have not been able to demonstrate sufficiently your strong family, social or economic ties to a country outside the U.S. that would compel you to leave the United States after a temporary stay".  .
