It is still 2 years. Download the instruction guide in PDF formet. it clearly mentioned on page 8: "Your test results must not be more than two years old at the time that you submit your application"

Actually, those checklist and op6 manual weren't updated. just check that Instruction guide in PDF formet was updated in 6th Jan 2011 and mentioned IELTS validity is 2 years, however, Instruction guide that is not in PDF formet(can be read online) wasn't updated and shows valid period of IELTS is 1 year. So it is actually a mistake made by CIC for not updating all manuals/checklist/links. |

totally agree with ladykiller.
Date of latest update:
1. Manual op 6 : last updated in 14 Dec 2010.
2. Instruction guide in PDF formet: last updated in 6th Jan 2011
3.Instruction guide not in PDF formet: last updated in 21st Dec 2010
4. CIO Checklist : last updated in 20th Dec 2010.
5. Visa office checklist: last updated in Nov 2010 (for instance: latest update took place in Singapore VO checklist on 11th Nov 2010)
So, According to the latest update which took place in 6th Jan 2011, General Training IELTS is valid for 2 years instead of 1 year.
