Hello, I am presently unable to take the IELTS exam as my passport is not with me.CHC, London has asked for IELTS and my deadline is end of July.If I do not take the IELTS exam and include my higher qualification which was taught in English gained from the uk university as well as the company where I work is an English firm, can CHC officer give me 16 points for the English language ability?

Anyone's help/advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Extremely unlikely, they asked for IELTS and you don't send what they ask for, then there is a very good chance they give you 8 points or less, or just refuse with a 0

I successfully registered for the IELTS without showing my original passport.  They accepted the photocopy instead.  You just need to explain to the British Council the reason why you are not able to get a hold of your passport.  They were very understanding in my case.

Hi
i had the same problem as my passport was with home office and i went to ielts centre and i explain that lady that my passport is not with me and i cant show it to you right now and i want to register for ielts exams meanwhile.she told me that if i can bring an attested copy of my passport from my employer or my teacher or any solicitor that will do,so luckily i got the notorised copy of my passport and i just it to that lady and she was more then happy with that.
so thats all i can suggest get the certified copies from you employer, teacher or solicitor etc and provide ielts centre with them and thats it.
best wishes
cheers

Hello I applied in 2006 and chc, London has started processing my application in Feb,2009.I have already sent all the docs apart from IELTS.I explained the reason through a covering letter why I did not include the ielts result. But officer sent me a letter again requesting my IELTS and the deadline is by the end of July.It seems to me that chc employees disregarded the covering letter which expounded why I am reluctant to take the IELTS exam.I am really in a fix.

Many thanks.
