Hi Nabil,

I was also very bad in writing before joining British Council but I advice you to practice as much as you can on daily basis. You try the below links to improve your writing skill and try to read articles in Newspaprs and listen BBC News channel. Both mediums will help you to improve your vocabulary. On daily basis you practice and atleast write one Essay daily and do not more spend time as specified in the IELTSwhich is mentioned on the exam. In this way you can improve your writing skills. Essay writing will give you good score if you will use good vocabulary. If you are still not comfortable then join British Council. Their tutors will guide you and aswer all your queries. One imporant tip for writing task 1 and task 2 in writing test is: If you write less than 150 words in Task 1 or less than 250 in Task 2 you will lose marks, but there is no maximum number of words for either. When you plan your essay, allow plenty of time at the end to check your work

http://artefact.lib.ru/languages/eng_textbooks_ielts.shtml - The books showed in this websites are very useful. Try to download from somewhere in web or else buy them from any book store. I also bought these books from the store while I was preparing for the exam.

For any further information please ask me.

I have got in task 1 to write a letter to a friend with whom I cancelled my meeting due to an accident and want to schedule a new meeting.

Task 2 was to write about global warming and how we can control global warming.

Hi drwamin,

I took general IELTS. It was easy but you should be quick while answering the questions. We have limited time to finish the paper. In the reading test I was not able to get the answer in the last paragraph.

In Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking various topics. It happens that we are not having knowlege about that topic and it is difficult to answer but it is not for everyone. Few people get easy topics to answer.

I will suggest to practice again and again to improve the skills in all the areas of IELTS.

When you register for IELTS, they send you a prepration guide, a book and two CDs. I prepared using that only and got very good marks. I don't think coaching is necessary. Concentration during the test is the key, specially in reading and listening tests. Writing and speaking are more subjective. However I think one should concentrate more on listening test because you need a 7.5 in it to get full marks for language for canadian immigration. For all other tests 6.5 is enough. You can also try the practice tests on http://www.canadavisa.com/ielts/free-practice-tests.html This will allow you to take the practice test and also calculate your band scores. This way you will be able to assess yourself and find out how well you are doing.

All the best !!
