Yes. You can get maximum of 16 points from IELTS i.e max 4 points for each section. If overall score is >= 67 with your 5.5 band then its ok.

I think this is going to be more strict next year i.e 7 band will be required in each category (R,L,W,S). So Hurry up ...

Best of Luck.

Hi
Sometimes applicants with low IELTS might be refused, even if points are 67....

For example... A doctor with low IELTS might not make it through...irrespective of Total Points. Job category is important too.

If your other score is 67 then 5.5 in each module is enough, otherwise not sufficient because if you not reach the pass marks 67 your application in risk.

If you obtain 5.5 in each module, it means you got 08 points out of 16 in first language.

Hi,
While it is ok to get you in as far as points are concerned I strongly suggest you brush up on your English skills (based on your score) as it may get extremely tough to get a job once you are here. And I'm talking about, what is referred to in this forum as a “survival job”.
Best of Luck.
Cheers,
O!

Thanks, not worried.

Just meant "one" as in "one should" instead of "you"! Should have framed my sentence better. Anyway, it was directed at Armaa as a guideline.

where did you hear that information?

Canada is expected to update its points based skilled immigration scheme; There will be new English language requirements and higher points thresholds. If you think you may be affected by the changes, it may be best to apply now for skilled immigration to Canada.

Currently, there is no minimum score required under the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). This means that as long as you score at least 67 points overall, you will qualify. However, new rules that will go into effect shortly will create a minimum mandatory IELTS score.

Thanks. I know that. But it seams that CIC didn't realize that idea from 01.07.2011., so I wonder why?
Anyway, we should be prepared for new surprises, so I will take another IELTS exam and get my credentials assessments ready.
