On form IMM0008 Generic, question 19, it asks for identity card number, if applicable. Are they referring to an identity card from the applicant's country of origin or for a Canadian ID card number?

I ask because my wife has an ID from Mexico and she also has a BC ID card from here in Canada. Which card would CIC be looking for?

It definitely refers to the identification card from your country of residence (not Canada). I think it's asked as additional proof of identity from your country of origin.

we have 2 identity cards also and we wrote both numbers and gave copies of both; of course we specified which id card was for which country....

at the end they say write id card number if applicable, they don't mention just one if u have two, or just from the country of origin....it's better to give full info to make their work easier...
