Hi everyone
I hope some one can give a clue or find a solution to my problem:
I sent my sponsorship application for my wife to Mississauga Canada in the middle of July and till now there is no trace of it on the application processing center , I paid the application fees on the internet and I got an official receipt & the number begins with R 000000000 this is my only prove ! when I put this number on the application processing they tell me that the Receipt number should begins with B 000 000 000 .
What should I do ? they don't accept calls from outside Canada? and the processing time should not take more than 70 days max .
plz help I don't know what to do. Cry

Have your wife call the CIC call centre: 1-888-242‑2100
She can only call if she is in Canada, but they will tell her if they received your application and everything. They are a 24/7 automatic service, but she should talk to an agent so tell her to call sometime from Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm local time.

Good luck!

Thanks for your advise , as I said before my wife and I are not living in Canada, I am waiting until my wife gets her papers in order to go back to Canada with my 2 kids. There must be another way than calling the 1 888 number.

You can dial (613) 944-4000 from outside of Canada to reach the call centre.

Dont worry, sometimes they may already have recieved the paper but they wont send u a letter letting you know that they got it for awhile.  Have your wife call them to double check.
Also did u send by regular mail becuz thats what I did and I would advise people not to do that!
good luck

True, they don't usually send you an aknowledgement to tell you they've received it. However, if it's been 90 days ago, baxx should have gotten news about the sponsorship by now.

Baxx, check your regular mail and your email (don't forget your spam folder) for any news. Make sure your spouse does the same. Also, it sounds like you tried to access ECas, which usually doesn't work during the sponsorship stage (and sometimes well afterwards).

I'm sure your payment is fine, after all CIC themselves gave out the receipt. Call the number mentioned earlier in this topic if you can't find any trace of your application process in your regular mail or email.

It's better to call early morning (Eastern time) or Thursday/Fridays, and when you get the automated response you need to select Citizen and Immigration, then listen to the  menu, I believe the options you need are numbered (in sequence): 2- for Status; 2- for Sponsorships, then stay on the line until a rep answers. Good luck.

If you paid by credit card. Better have the copy of the trasaction on your credit card of CIC payment.. When you e-mailed CIC , better attched the copy of the transaction on your credit card and the copy of the receipt.

Hi Baxx,

I can't offer much in the way of advice as I'm still waiting to hear about sponsorship approval too, my application wasn't received until Aug 31 so still a couple of weeks until I should officially hear according to their timelines. What I was going to say is my receipt also started R000000000, so unless we've both been given an incorrect receipt it should be ok. Keep trying to call, and log in on ecas with your receipt number, and email your Visa office too! I know not all are helpful, but if you can get someone there to assist they can try and look up your file, or at least forward your query to Mississauga; you are entitled to ask questions at this late stage.

As a question, do you know if / when it was received? I sent my app by courier and it was delivered on Aug 31, so if I don't hear back by 11 November I will be contacting people to find what has happened. I hope this is not the case for you, but I have seen a few people comment their applications never arrived.

At last I called the 613****** number waited for around half an hour until someone spoke to me and conformed that my sponsorship was approved and sent to Syria to continue the second step on the 20th of Sep. She told me I was supposed to receive a mail from them, and gave me my file number. So now I am very glad that everything went well with the first part of the sponsorship, now hope the second part will not take much time specially that the situation in Syria is not that good.
Thanks every one for your help. Cheesy
