I have a few more questions pertaining to the visitor visa extension.

1. I am sponsoring my spouse which is on a visitor visa who is here in Canada with our son and I.
Now, I would like to know if it is enough to show my bank account statement as a
proof of means of support for my son (Canadian citizen) and wife (sponsored person). Is it necessary
to have a joint bank account or can it just be my sole bank account?

2. On the section 11 of the visitor visa extension form it asks:

To support my self in Canada:
I have $ _________ (Canadian dollars) available.
Do I put not applicable since I will prove proof that I will support her
until she receives her residency approval? Or do we have to enter an amount anyway?

Because after that question it also says:

I receive support from:  self        Relative          friend          general welfare assistance        Other

3. I would like to know if it would be beneficial to add that my wife receives the Canada Child Tax Benefit and The Universal Child Benefit?
Or could this be negative towards the approval of a granted extension?

1. Can't really answer this but I am assuming it would be okay. Hubby and I had a joint account but it was only funds he earned (I couldn't work at the time.)

2. At this part I just estimated the amount that we had in our account. If she is able to have available funds from you account then estimate that and put that there. Then I just included proof that my hubby worked, proof of his pay stub, proof of credit card, and provided proof of the amount in our account. You probably don't need to do all of that though. I was just a bit pre-cautious all the time with immigration. And I just put what ever applied to my financial situation. You aren't just limited to selecting one. Then you can include a letter explaining how they are supporting you. I had hubby and his father (since we are living with them) write a sentence or paragraph saying they would support me for the duration of the time given and if refused I would have a way home, then they signed it and put their contact info on there.

3. Why would you need to mention this? It doesn't seem to apply to the situation so you probably don't need to include it. I don't see how it could help you more or less with or without it.

Good luck!  Smiley

Hi Carlo! I requested twice the extension for my husband. (1st was approved, we're still waiting on the 2nd extension)
We just sent a little note saying that not having a work permit the wife is the one supporting him.
We attached letter of employment, my taxes and the pay stubs for the last 6 months.
We didn't enter any amount on that question.

Hope it helps!
