Dears,

I am from Egypt and my wife is canadian and we want to start the process of the family sponsorship but the problem is that they told us here in Egypt that we cant start the process from here and that she must go to Canada by herself to start the process from there then i can go to her to finish the process in Canada and this will take about 6 month or something.
So my questions are :
1. Is this really true or not?
2. Is there any other way that i can go with her and start the process from there (e.g. like a visitor or something) ?

Kindly advice as this is so urgent.

Thanks in advance.

If you wife is a Canadian citizen, she can sponsor you while residing a broad.  If she is a Permanent Resident, then she can only sponsor while residing in Canada.  It is unlikely that you would receive a TRV so she could sponsor you in Canada.  Start your reading at www.cic.gc.ca

Hi.. Unfortunatly there is no way they will give you a visitor visa to go to canada.. I tried this with my husband while i was in Lebanon and they wouldn't even look at this option..They said since your wife is canadian she has to sponsor you so thats what i did.. She can start the papers from egypt and be there with you but its alot longer..If she comes back to canada to do this it will take 6months-1 yr..If you do it from there it can take up to 3 yrs from what i understand and she will also need letters from canada saying that she will have a job when she returns to canada to support you..I hope this helps..The best thing for you to do is let her go to canada and start the papers from there..
