Hey i am in Banff at the moment on the first year of my IEC visa,  I was talking to another Englishman and he said that we can now extend our visa untill we are 30. Is this correct? Or is that a different visa?

If so how?

If not what would you suggest to stay here? My uncle is a Citizen too.

Thanks.

1.  No.  2 x1 Year IEC visas as per the instructions.
2.  No longer a family class Alberta PNP.  You would have to qualify as a skilled worker.

It might also be a possibility for you to get sponsored by an employer through PNP.  If you are doing a skilled job, it is not a problem at all.  If you are doing a low skilled job, there are limitations on what kind of job you may be doing and you must work for 6 months before you can be sponsored.

Thanks, I appreciate your responses.

I have A levels and a diploma in surveying. I also worked in management when i left college. Would you think that is adequate for the skilled worker aspect?

The question is not if you are educated or qualified but what kind of job you are doing.  For example, if you work as a bank teller, that is semi-, low-skilled and you would have very few options to immigrate while if you work as a shift manager at McDonalds you are skilled and have all kinds of ways to apply for your PR.

You also need to differentiate between what is a temporary skilled worker (any person on a work permit who is working in a skilled position) and the immigration class called (federal) skilled worker which requires all kinds of education, job experience etc. and is actually pretty hard to qualify for.

If you are a temporary skilled worker, you can be sponsored by your employer through a PNP or you can apply yourself after 2 yrs. of skilled work under CEC. Both are easier to qualify for than the federal skilled worker program.
