I got my Visa

Hi all,

I have been visiting this forum quite often as i needed my Work Visa. I have got it today with the help of some of you guys and I wanted to thank you people. I would also like to share my experience with all of you as it might help and solve some of the queries which i wanted to know myself when i was in pursuit of the visa.

I am from India and I got an offer from a games company in Canada. They extended me the LMO and I needed to apply for the Work permit and TRV from Canadian Embassy in New Delhi India. I applied for the visa of myself and with my wife together in the same form. Along with the visa forms i also attached another covering letter which had my personal information and work experience . I divided my supporting documents in different categories like 1) Work Experience 2) Education 3) Financial Asset Summary and added a summary letter to all of them. I did the same thing for my wife as well. The tabulated data and summaries are not mandatory but it really help the officers to understand the facts by having a cursory look at the documents, I think this helps in reducing the processing time.

I submitted my application on 12th Feb 2009 and on 18th Feb 2009 we received our passports and medical test forms. I got my medical tests done on 24th Feb 2009 and resubmitted my passports to the embassy on 25th Feb itself. The medical test consisted of Blood test, Urine test, chest Xray and a detailed physical examination like Blood pressure and medical history. After the test was over, the doctor sent the medical report to the Embassy directly and today i.e 9th March we received our visa along with the work permit. Actually the embassy did not take much time in processing at all, the initial response was only in 3 working days.

First of all congratulations for the good news and i hope everything goes smoothly for you.
I think my situation is somewhat similar to yours and i was hoping you could help me. My husband worked in a betting company in Malta, a small island in the Mediterranean but now he is employed as a labourer in construction. I am a student at the university and it is my last year to graduate and earn my bachelors degree. The thing is that i am an Ethiopian and my husband is a Serbian and we were hoping to go to Canada together and have a better future.  I was hoping you could recommend betting or gaming companies that he can apply to as a foreign worker and also help me out sort whether it is possible for me to go with him and what the steps involved are.

Hi Winta,

I would have love to help you on this but i think you misunderstood the industry i am going to work, I am going to work in a company which makes games for PC and consoles, it is completely different from betting companies. So, i wont be able to help you on this.

You can surely go with him but you need to prove your marriage before the embassy with your marriage certificates and wedding pics.
The steps involved depends upon how you approach, i mean if you get a job offer and LMO approval then you can directly apply for visa along with that offer letter and the process will be fast, but if you want to migrate to Canada without an offer then it make take months to get your visa approved.

Hello. It is good to hear such an inspirational success story. But, I am puzzled by one thing. Why did your case have to wait for LMO? Is it not true that software positions are not subject to LMO? I found the following link where they mentioned that some software jobs are exempt from LMO. Please take a look and let me know your opinion.

Hi Flake,

It is true that LMO is not mandatory in such cases but LMO as a document is not only useful for getting your Visa but also for other things, like you are not residing in a country and you get a job offer from there, you need to trust their offer completely and set off for that country to work, what if the wages are not same as mentioned or the benefits are not there as promised, in such cases if you have a Govt. authorized document that validates the offer then it is always better and safe.

Not only this, if the LMO is there then CIC need not verify the offer with the company and it will definitely reduce the time lines.

I would advise every foreign worker to get an LMO it has many benefits and it definitely expedites the process of Visa.

These are my personal views and i am not saying that LMO is mandatory but it is very useful and hence i asked for it myself from the company.
