Dear Experts,

I came here to canada on student visa, i have completed my studies, now i am on PG work permit and currently working.

I sent my application in Nov 2009 to buffalo office. They moved my application to NY office.
It says application processing started on Oct 27 th.

I am getting married soon. Can i inclue my wife for PR processing soon after the marriage?Do i get points in if i include her ?
will it delay my PR processing timings?

Please let me know.

Does anyone applied in the same time frame and got PR already? How long does it take?

Thank you so much in advance.

Thanks,

Hi SVS

you must notify the visa office after you get married. As this is a status change in your life. I am in a hurry right now, will tell you more few hours later.

Yes you can include her in your application.

You need to notify CHC New York right away of this change in your status, as soon as you get a marriage certificate. Send this in together with the updated IMM0008 Generic, updated proof funds for 2 adults (if applicable) as well as processing fees for her ($550). If you already paid the RPRF, you should also send the fee for your spouse ($490) and don't forget to send all other required supporting documents for her and I think your spouse also needs to fill up the IMM0008 Schedule 1 and IMM5406.

You must inform CIC about your marriage immediately. otherwise your visa will be invalid and you have to start process again from the beginning.

When I applied for permanent residence I was single. I have received my visa, but now I am married. Can I go to Canada and sponsor my spouse later?

No, your visa is not valid if it does not accurately reflect your legal status and you will not be permitted to enter Canada. You must inform us immediately, in writing, of your new matrimonial status. If your spouse is not a citizen or permanent resident of Canada, he or she must be examined in the context of your application, whether or not he or she will accompany you to Canada. We will send you the forms which your spouse must complete as well as a list of documents required. He or she will have to undergo a medical examination. If your spouse is is accompanying you to Canada, you will also have to pay the required fees and submit a copy of his or her passport. If your destination is in the province of Quebec, your spouse must also obtain a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ).

You MUST return your visa and Confirmation of Permanent Residence forms to our office for cancellation. Once your spouse has been examined, unless he or she is inadmissible, we will issue the visa(s).

Any current family member not examined in this application can NEVER be sponsored by you in the future. Misrepresenting or withholding information would render you inadmissible to Canada.

Since I received my permanent residence visa, my spouse has had a baby. Can I go to Canada and sponsor my child later?

No, unless your child is a Canadian citizen, your visa is invalid because you have a new family member who has not been examined and you will not be permitted to enter Canada. If your child was born in Canada or if one of its parents is a Canadian citizen, the child is therefore a Canadian citizen. If that is not the case, you must add the child to your application by sending us a copy of the birth certificate along with 7 identity photos. Your child will have to undergo a medical examination. If the child is accompanying you to Canada, you will also have to pay the required fees and submit a copy of the passport used for the child. If your destination is in the province of Quebec, you must also obtain a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) for your child.

You MUST also return your visas and Confirmation of Permanent Residence forms to our office for cancellation. Once your child has been examined, unless he or she is inadmissible, we will issue the visa(s).

Any current family member not examined now can NEVER be sponsored by you in the future. Misrepresenting or withholding information would render you inadmissible to Canada.

yes you can update your file at any time. Just e-mail your VO abt your status change then he tell you what documents you have to send in a specified time. Informing VO now will delay your application may be 3 or 4 months but you both go together. If you don't inform them and plan to get married after you got your visa then it may take more time may be 1 year to sponsor your wife and from there another 6-12 months to get her visa.

I was also in the same situation when i got my medicals and after send them i got married.I came to know in this forum that we need to update our status if not it may create problem further so i updated VO about my status then after 3 months of updating all the documents and with application fee the VO has sent medicals for my spouse also, we have done our medicals on 27th dec 2010 and now waiting for next stage.

Definitely you will get some more points for you wife's education and on other aspects but anyways u have applied as single and you got 67points so you need not to worry now about your points.

update them as soon as possible by sending them marriage certificate or a photograph.

all the best.....

regards
saleem

You have to notify the VO about your marriage.
