I was wondering if the process for a Canadian citizen to stay six months in the U.S was the same as it is for a American citizen to stay in Canada?

We were just married in June, and my husband and i would like to stay together while my visa application for Canadian permanent residence is being processed. We are applying from out of country because as far as i know the processing time is shorter and if you are denied (keeping fingers crossed i am not) we can appeal. However, i have always come here to stay with him, he has never been to the us and has never stayed six months. I guess i just want to make sure i am doing everything the right way. It would break my heart to have him turned back at the border.

It's the same - Canadians going to the States or US citizens trying to enter Canada.  He will have to prove that he only intends to stay in the States temporarily . . . but if he's admitted to the States, he's authorized to stay for up to six months, but I would suggest that he not mention his relationship to you when he's trying to enter the US.
