Hi,

I am applying for a work permit extension . I can get all the documents with the exception of the file number provided by Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC) .

Is it a must to have.

How do I go about getting one .

Thanks..

you generally can't just get an extension through CIC without also getting a Labor Market Opinion from HRSDC. Go here to read all the requirements, but the general process is that your employer will need to post your job on the federal job bank, then place an application with HRSDC to get approval for hiring a non-Canadian for the job.
