Can anyone tell me the reasoning why HRSDC is making such a fuss about the extension of a Work Visa?
I have held my job for almost two years now, but i have to keep applying for temp visas until my PR is done (Which takes forever) in the meantime i got engaged here and pretty much have my entire life here. It's not like i am trying to be a burden on the system, but they are giving me a really hard time.

Anyone have any experience in extending their stay and dealing with HRSDC?
(Do i have to reapply for my own job, does my employer have to see X candidates for my own job, stuff like that)

When you are on a temporary work permit, you need a new LMO to get it extended because the situation in society may have changed since you got your original permit.  They do not want to extend your permit if there are suddenly loads of unemployed Canadians who could do your job.

Your employer will have to apply for a new LMO to HRSDC.  They will have to show recruitment efforts like advertising on the job bank for at least 2 weeks.  They will have to offer whatever HRSDC thinks is market wage.  If they get the LMO, you can apply for your extension.  If they don't get it but you want to stay, you can apply to change your status to visitor with the reason of being engaged and waiting for your PR.  You would not be able to work though if you end up on visitor status.

PR=Permanent resident - TFW=temporary foreign worker
FSW=federal skilled worker - QSW=Quebec skilled worker
AEO=arranged employment offer - LMO=labour market opinion
CEC=Canadian experience class - PNP=provincial nominee program

HRSDC doesn't care about you.  They care about the Canadian labour market and ensuring that citizens and permanent residents have first opportunities for jobs in Canada.  So it's not really about you or any other foreign worker.  It's about employers being required to try to find Canadian citizens or permanent residents to fill their open jobs before looking to foreign workers.
