I have applied the application to London VO in 2011 april whilst I was in UK. Now I am in India and the application status is  ''in process''.My question is how do I send my passport to London VO for stamping.

the situation is,

1) I wont be able to get a visiting visa to UK.

2) It is illegal to send thee indian passport by courier and they wont send it back to India as it illegal.

3) The only option is to send it via a friend with an authorisation letter. Is it feasible. Do London VO accept it... any one has experience. Where do they send it back.. One person is ready to take it to uk and will pass it to another friedn who will then carry it to the Canadian embassy in UK. My question is is this legal to do it..

Any replies appreciated

Regards

You can send the passport. Its legal.

Two ways;

you can authorize or send it by courier. However you need to get permission from Indian Passport Issuing Authority to send it by courier or person and how you will get the passport back. With the approval document a person can carry it. Simple as that...

On the other hand will the VO in London issue the visa without the original holder of the passport. Cross check it?

I've been going through google searches and stumbled across this post by our dear Qorax a few years back.  You might find it worth checking out.  Hope it helps,

to rinks25us:

dear rinks,

we have come a long way since those illegality days of passport sending. if it was not so, top class logistics handlers would have refused to accept passports. like i said earlier, DHL / Fedex ACCEPTS passports from most countries that i know. India does. UAE does. and so UK, Canada, US & many other do. I have utilized their services.

all u must do is keep the passport/s open (without a packet), declare that 'Passport/s for Visa' and send only to the cic / chc. it works buddy, till a week back.

another option for u is to visit the canadian embassy in your country and deliver the passport/s to them for onward submission to the cic / chc concerned. there is a form & fees for that. in that form you have to state the purpose of sending the passport.

regards.
