How to legally stay in Canada while my FSW app is in Buffalo?

I sent my FSW3 application to Buffalo in July 2009, and received the AOR from Buffalo in the same month. I'm currently a graduate student in Canada but plan to leave the program soon without completing it. My question is how to legally stay in Canada while my FSW app is in Buffalo? I don't want to leave Canada while my application is in Buffalo. I think I can drive across the border to the USA and come back and enter Canada with a six month visitor's visa without any problem. My hope is that my case is finalized by the end of this year. Is anyone in a similar situation? It's hard to get a job and a work permit these days, and I don't want to enter another grad program even if it's a fully funded program like the one I'm currently in. My last option is to leave Canada after changing the address to my relative's address in Canada. I'd appreciate any advice or stories.

1. what are the differences between FSW1, FSW2 and FSW3?
2. Where did you submit your FSW application? How did you ended up at the VO in Buffalo?
