Hello

I am hoping someone can shed some light on this please. I am sponsoring my wife and we are just about to apply however i don't understand the medical. I know she has to have a medical performed and there is a list of clinics that are qualified to do this for people applying for PR status in Canada.

However i have been told by some that :

1) She must bring the Appendix C for to the clinic all filled out and they will keep it and send it to Mississauga on our behalf. And that the actual report of her medical will also be sent to Mississauga for us and we will never see it.

2) Others say (my immigration consultant is one) she must bring Appendix C to the clinic and they will send this from to Mississauga but they will give her the medical report and that is part of the documents we must forward as part of the PR application package.

Which way is correct?

Neither.  She takes the Appendix C to do the medical, when she does the medical the DMP will fill in a form provided by CIC and attach one of her photos to a copy of that form and give it to her.  She sends that copy, signed and stamped by the DMP, along with her application to CPC-Mississauga.

It is correct that you will not receive the medical results from the DMP, these he will send to the regional medical centre (RMC) responsible for clearing medicals for the visa office that will process your wife's application.  They don't send the medical results to CPC-M.

Err... one more question please. When my wife called the clinic they were asking here to also provide an address where to send the "report" when she arrives for the medical. What would they be talking about? If it is the actual results of the medical then i would assume they would already have the CPC-Mississauga address on file.... or are they just being cautious?

Are you certain the clinic is staffed by a Designated Medical Practitioner?  A DMP will know where to send the medical results, I am pretty sure they would have it in a handbook somewhere.  I did not need to know the address where my results were to be sent, I simply listed the name of the Visa Office where my application would be processed.  Based on that fact, my DMP knew that he should send my results to the Regional Medical Centre responsible for my visa office.  As I said before, medical reports do not go to CPC-M, they go to the Regional Medical Centre.

For example, my visa office is Kingston, Jamaica.  The Regional Medical Centre for the Caribbean and some countries in Latin America is Port of Spain, Trinidad.  I did not need to know the address for the office in Trinidad, instead I wrote Kingston as my VO on my Appendix C, and the doctor did everything else to ensure that Trinidad got the medical results.  He gave me a copy of the form he completed showing that I had done the required medical tests.  I attached this copy from the doctor to my application.

Hmm. She picked a doctor from this list as she is in Singapore:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medicalinfo.aspx?CountryID=2013&CountryName=Singapore

Maybe she should choose a new one... In theory as long as she states that "Singapore" is the Visa Office that will be processing the file on Appendix C they should know the mailing address right?

Thanks again for your assistance.

South East Asia Regional MC is in Singapore coz I am applying from Malaysia and my DMP told me he will send the report to the RMC in Singapore for processing before they forward it to the VO office in KL.
