Dear Senior members,

My fiance and I are students in canada. "She" is a canadian citizen. I am here on my study permit from Pakistan. I would really appreciate if you can guide about how I should start my process?

Would it be better if we get married here and file the sponsorship documents or should we go back to pakistan and get married and start the process there. I would also like to know of the avg. time it takes for things to be finallized.

thank you..

It does not matter where you get married.

You can apply through Pakistan or inland in Canada.  Each have their pros and cons.  To apply inland Canada, you have to be in Canada and stay in Canada.  To apply through Pakistan, you can be anywhere.  If you have a 1 year or more visa in Canada, you could also apply through the US but then you need a visa to the US in case you get called for an interview.

You can use the search function of this board to find posts about many similar cases, how to find timelines etc.
