Hello Friends, I have done my B. Com in 1983 through Nagpur University and I have done my M. A. in 1989 through Kalina Campus, Bombay University, and I have done my Ph.D in 1999 through Biwandi college, Mumbai University. I have all the original marksheets and degrees with me.
Now I want to get my transcripts for those degrees. Please advise me how to get them. I have no one in India to help me to get them and now I am applying for a teaching positions in USA but I am living in Canada. By the way I have also done B. A. and M. A. in Canada.

I have another question too. Do the Universities in India mention credit hours in transcripts?

Best regards, Dr. Ahmed

Hi Dr. Ahmed,

Advise you to visit website of university . You will find details there. If you there is no information then you have to give call to numbers given. But to speed up the process...suggest you to take help your friend or relative for personal visit.

Regards,
Mayank

I had similar issue being out of India and I simply sent the copies of certificate and transcripts/marks sheet of my degrees to a known person in India.

He simply visited the College, paid the fee and my institute stamped all the copies and returned them back in a sealed envelope. I got back that envelope and submitted it along with my application.....it worked well.

Hope it helps.

Hi Mr-rana. Thank you for your reply. Please let me know what you meant by you sent the copies of the certificate and copies of trannscript/market sheets to your friend. I have all my orginal marketsheets and degrees with me. However, the marketsheets are not same as the transcripts. Marketsheets don't show the number of credit hours each course has. Do you mean the marketsheets could be accepted in the place of transcripts over here in the USA/Canada? Moreover, what do you mean by the college got them stamped? Do you mean stamping the marketsheets would make them more official and acceptable here?

Thank you for your time and I appreciate your kind response.

Best regards,
Dr. Ahmed.

Some universities give transcripts (different original sheets with transcripts as heading) and some give copies of marksheets in a sealed envelope with a stamp that says transcripts. It is university specific and so is specifying credit hours. We have to go to university or talk on the phone and enquire.

Dear Dr. Ahmed,
To tell you truth, even I was haunted by this transcript & marks sheet stuff initially as in India, we are more familiar with marks sheet rather than transcripts.....but thanks to this Forum... a sol. to all problems.

I scanned & sent all certificates and MARKS-SHEETS in lieu of transcripts to a person who finished task on my behalf in India. It worked well in the way as I explained in my last post/reply to you and I got my PER.

Yes, copies of original doc. (certificate, mark sheet etc.) properly stamped, dated and sealed in University's envelope works well.......CIO understands and accepts it.

Your WORRY would persist only as long as your are not trying......so just do it.

Hope it helps

For sure I am going to do it. However, the University I have applied for wants transcripts and not marksheets. Because marksheets won't show how many credit hours I have done in each course. I know in India no one talks about credit hours. To tell you the truth I have never heard of credit hours until I arrived in Canada. Would original markets reissued by the college in India be accepted in the USA in the place of transcripts? That is my main worry.

I guess your issue is more related to getting into University, may be related to some academic work and my replies were more related to clear off immigration process....requirements and doc. might be different then.

regards
