can u pls tell me which country you are residing at? Different countries and different banks have different policies. I made my dd from an Indian bank. It is a cumbersome process of trying to know as to when your dd has been encashed. The bank authorities will contact the head office (which in my case is mumbai for hdfc bank). The head office will put in a request to the canadian bank with which it has a tie up (in my case, bank of nova scotia). Only when the canadian bank authorities will give a reply, only then will my bank be in a position to inform me about whether my dd has been encashed or not.
Hi,
Though my bank was different but mostly Indian banks have the same process. They give you certified cheques in which they have tie ups with international banks which are local to the beneficiary. If the beneficiary gets the drafts cleared, then the local bank for you i.e. Indian bank also get notified since they also have to make the books and there is no lag of days in it. Its not a very long process. I would suggest you go and speak to you bank once again and ask them about it.
