hey experts
i have applied for PR at july 2011. I have asked my bank to confirm me whether my BD is encashed or not? but my bank says they could not provide the information about whether my Bank Draft is encashed or not? my question is how can i get this information? do i have to contact the Candian bank where draft are sent or i can get it form my country's bank

Only the Bank that issued you the BD can confirm.
May be they are just blowing you off saying they dont know, talk to the manager or something.

I had made a copy of the DD, and the SBI could tell me the details, the date, the branch where it was cashed... all this after insisting that I absolutely needed to know if it was cashed. Yes, they have to dig in... and usually they don't want to do that.

I talked with a banker about this issue. He said whether the receiver deposits the DD or not, the amount will automatically credited his/her account as it works as TT. However, you can talk to any banker especially who are working in Foreign Exchange.

Also remember, that nowadays everything is Computerized. It is impossible for your Bank not to be able to trace the cashing of the DD/BD, as there is going to be data somewhere in their system.

I feel they are playing lazy or the dude you talked to is just ignorant of the matter.

Anyways, best to goto someone incharge, or send an email to their main branch. OR you can just cross your fingers and wait for the PER Smiley
