How to Buy Travelers Cheques in Pakistan?

In the spirit of optimistically planning ahead, as PR's landing for the first time in Canada we are required to carry the full amount that corresponds to our Category. For e.g appox 11 k Canadian for a Skilled Worker PA when traveling alone.

Keeping the above in mind i thought that using Travelers Cheques is the best option, but where can you buy them in Pakistan?

If TC's are not the best option what are the other available options for Pakistanis other then Cash?

Amex has the best TCs, I don't think amex has direct travel services in Pak, though they have CC services. Check this web, I bought Amex TC from them (in 2003)

I will advice you to get a bank draft rather than TC. BD will cost you less and you can get it done yourself, if you have a $ account with any local bank or go to any currency exchange and they will do it for you for a nominal fee around PKR 3000-4000. TC has daily withdrawal limit, as far I can remember in GBP it was GBP 300 per day. Plus, when you will enhance your TC, the bank will also deduct some money. Which will not happen in case of Bank Draft.
there are also con associated with Bank Drafts, you will wait for 7-10 days before you can access your money, so carry some cash with you.
