How often CIC updates ecas for new applicants?

I am asking this on someone else's behalf:

I applied under FSW Cat 1 and was asked to submit detailed application to London which I did in July this year. Since then my ecas status says: Received by Visa Office. I am now awaiting medical requests and I hope something will appear on ecas before they are issued. I am not sure how often London CIC updates their system so just wondering if anyone received their medical or passport requests without having their application status changed on ecas or is it always the case that new requests follow a change in ecas?
