Hello everyone,

I have been hearing horror stories of those being sponsored in the Phillipines being given by the Canadian Embassy there only a couple of weeks to pack up and head to Canada once they've been given acceptance.  I thought that they gave a year? or up to the point of when your medical had been submitted.  I'm just thinking it would take longer than two weeks to get settled up with personal issues, i.e. work, education, personal stuff.   Has anyone heard about something similar happening?

The expiration date of the PR visa is the soonest of the medical or the passport expiration, usually the medical expires sooner.  However, even if you have a short window in which to complete landing, you may return to your home country immediately after to wind up your affairs and then travel back to Canada once that is settled.

Do you have to bring all your belongings with you within the timeframe of the PR visa, or can they be brought in later, after you've landed?

You can bring them in later. If you don't have much time before the PR visa expires, just go to Canada, land, and then go back to your home country to organize things.

There is no time limit on goods to follow.
It can be years after you land.
