Hi,

I would like to know how much time it usually takes for the complete PR process if I file immigration papers for my parents. Also would like to know how can it be done. Trackitt doesn't have the latest updates regarding this category.

1. Will I have to file the papers in Canada only and then they will be transfered to New Delhi ?
2. What is Inland processing and outland processing ? Which one is better and fast one in terms of processing.

1.  34 months for a decision at Mississauga
2.  14-19 months for ND for 80% of applications when approval received from Miss..
3.  There is no in-Canada process for parents.

Thanks a lot for the reply. You mean  34 months in Mississauga then 14-19 months in ND = 48 - 54 Months aprox total processing time ?

Hi,

Usually 3-4 but there are several cases going more than 5 years in the cases of parents who travelled a lot out of their country and those had military services.

Parents can visit Canada on TRV and can apply for  extention as permitted,  till the approval of their PR Visa, if they like to stay with their children.

So about 3-4 years!

TRV is temporary resident visa in short tourist visa. yes its cheap and easy but valid maximum for 6 months.

I am sorry if I did not clearly undersatdn the process.
One cannot directly apply at New Delhi?
Does it have to go through an in Canada process first?
What happens in Canada?

You have to apply to Mississauga and they will verify that you are a suitable sponsor for your parents, that is not bankrupt, not on social services and have enough income to support your own family as well as your parents.  Since parents applications are not seen as a priority, this process in Mississauga takes almost 3 years.  After that, the application is forwarded to the local visa office for processing there where it also is not seen as priority and takes longer time than most other applications.

So speaking theoretically, parents may visit on TRV and keep extending the Visa till this is settled?
I am a bit concerned since my mother is nearing 80 and my decision to pursue the PR hinges on the possibility of her being able to come there at all...

If the parents are even granted a TRV in the first place, which sometimes isn't the case since the embassy may not believe they are only planning to visit, then you can try to extend the TRV when it's about to expire.  There is no guarantee that it will be extended.  You would apply based on that you have applied to sponsor them and that you do have the funds to provide for their needs and because of their age, it might also be important to show that they have medical insurance if they get sick.  If you are denied a TRV extension, I suppose a backup plan might include appealing on Humane & Compassionate grounds based on them not having anybody to take care of them in their home country.

I do not know how common it is to succeed in applying for TRV extensions for parents for the 3-4 years the processing may take.  Then you have to take it into account as well that they could be denied PR based on medical reasons.
