Hi,

In Canada standard working hours in a week is about  40 hrs. But t varies to provinces and employers especially those opened on week ends and on holidays, like shops, Malls, Service organizations etc...

If the wage is written $12-$18 per hour for a five day week, then that's the amount you get for each hour you actually work. You would not be paid for weekends since you don't work on weekends.

If the wage is written $45K to $75K, then that's the amount you will receive over the course of the year split out into payment which are often every two weeks.

The OP was asking about teaching jobs. For teachers, not all 52 weeks in the year are working weeks.

There are approx 2000 working hours in a year for a regular office.
So 12$ / hour * 2000 = 24k / year
&  18$ / hour * 2000 = 36k / year

But as mentioned school/ colleges are not open full year which means lesser working hours.
I am not how many days a school/ colleges are closed per year but if you assusme it for a month,
that means approx 20 * 8 = 160 hours less (2000 - 160)
