Dear Friends,

My cousin is a Chartered Accountant in India and before that he completed bachelor of commerce. Now, there is a confusion in his Education points, he has got his AOR where he claimed 22 pts, but I want to assure is it true that CA get 22 pts in education as they have to under go a 3 year apprenticship as a prerequisite.

Please reply friends, your opinion matters most...

Yes that is true....thats how my application was initially assessed by consultant and he advised 22 points for CA.

Me being very fortunate during the process, consultant told me that i have got 25 points as per CAIPS notes with them which was surprising for them as well. Why / How I dont know

Hi

thank you very much

I think that you will find that you get 20 points for the BA, as a CA, CGA, ACCA is not a degree.  It is just an industry standard which you need, same as in IT an MICC doesn't get any points.

I agree that CA is not a degree, but it is a professional certification issued by an instituition that is recognised by government of india. Please read the following point in education in EG7
"A two-year diploma, trade certificate or apprenticeship AND at least 14 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study - 22 pts"

Most candidates complete their Bachelors and then go for 3 years articleship. and hence it is actually a kind of apprenticeship that they do... I guess CA should get 22 pts if they are graduates + CA.

With B.com+CA you definately get 22 points I have  no doubt about that.

The officer spoke with me and had given me just 20 points. When I asked that, had I not done CA, would the points still be 20, and the reply was yes, it would have been 20.

Is there anything that I can do about this as I need 22 points to qualify.

Well if thats the case then, u will have to retake IELTS and improve your band score to get more points....
