how many parts to go through ?

hello all,

I am currently residing in Canada on a work permit, My wife who is a Canadian citizen is now going to sponsor me for permanent residency.

I am not sure if we have to fill out the permanent resident application found at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp

or

the sponsorship application found at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

or both?

Can anyone confirm which one we will need to to fill out in regards to this please?

p.s. i am a US Citizen working in Canada on a work permit at this time, and am looking to do the inland application,

You are going to use the first link for spousal sponsorship. There are 2 parts of the application. Sponsor (your wife) and Principal applicant (you). The Part 3 is special directions depending on your region (US).

Actually that is not quite true. The first link is to an INLAND application, meaning that your application will be processed in Canada. The 2nd link is for an OUTLAND application, i.e. your application will be processed in the U.S. Outland applications are typically much faster than inland. There are many discussions on this board about the pros and cons of both so you should read through that before deciding to do an inland application. Just because you are here in Canada does not mean that you have to file an inland application. You still have the right to file an outland application.
