I know it depends on the individual, but how long does it generally take from submitting an application to jumping on the plane.

Usually it takes 6 - 8 months but varies on cases, for the general idea go to trackitt.com.

it depends upon Visa post, CHC - New Delhi is quicker among all. However the current time frame is anywhere between 6 - 12 months and it depends on person to person as well.
