Hi all,

I am planning to do the landing on March 15 to look for an apartment to rent, and then come back to the US to wrap up some things before moving to Toronto on April 25.

Do you know how long does it take to receive the PR Card mailed to the address in Canada?

I am afraid the 40 days after I do the landing will not be enough time for me to get the PR cards and be able to enter to Canada on the moving date.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Best,

Felipao

Hi
Quoted from CIC website:

Quote
You should receive your card within four weeks of officially entering the country as an immigrant. If you do not have a mailing address when you arrive in Canada, you must provide your address to Citizen and Immigration Canada (CIC) as soon as possible by contacting the Call Centre (see Contact Us at the top of this page). You will receive your card about four weeks after you give your address to CIC.

Can anyone share your own experience on the PR card' waiting time?   I am just curious to know what happen in reality. Has anyone received the PR cards later than 30 days from the time of landing?

Thank you so much!

Some people have said 6 weeks and some have said as much as 4 months, in those cases something has gone wrong but you never know.  You should ask the border guards when you land what to do.  Other people have told as long as they keep their landing documents and show them when they enter again, there is no problem.  Don't take my word for it though, ask the border guards and see what they say.

I know this is an old thread, but rather than starting a new one I figured I would try to revive this thread. Can anyone update on actual time it took you to get your PR card after landing. I landed at Lewiston and gave a Canadian address for mailing of my PR card.

Wow! Where did you cross? Are they mailing to Canada? Have you attempted crossing by air?

yes by air

So you have re-entered Canada via air without your PR card, with your COPR? did you have any problems? I am wondering if I need to drive into the US to fly or if I will have a problem getting back into Canada without my PR card. The web site says I will need a PR card to re-enter? Any help would much appreciated.

8 weeks and still waiting!

Hi mapplelover
Did you contact them?
I called them last week and after giving some information , they told me our photos are not clear and they will send me an instruction until 2 months later and I must go in person to Canada Services to apply for PR card (free of charge) !!!
It means, Hopefully, 4 months later , I will collect our PR card, it is sooooooooo crazy !!!

It's too early. you should wait for 30 business days and after that you can contact them:
