Hi Bereth,

Did you have your finger print taken from a local police enforcement in USA?

How long does FBI take nowdays?

FBI take 2 months. Let them know that the certificate is for immigration Canada.
A police officer can take your finger-prints.

It takes about 8-9 weeks for the FBI Police Certificate to be done - you also need to count in the time it takes to get there and back by post. For me it took 10 weeks altogether although I had my certificate delivered to me by FedEx from America to make the process faster.

Good luck  Smiley

Hi Bereth,

hi newborn,

you can find the following paragraph in the application guide. here is the link:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EG7TOC.asp

Note. We strongly recommend that you submit your police certificates with your application to the CIO. If you are unable to obtain all the necessary police certificates, you may still send your application to the CIO without them. However, please note that if your application is placed into processing you must be ready to submit them to the visa office when requested.

Consult our website for specific and up-to-date information on how to obtain police certificates from any country.

Note: If you are including your police certificates with your application to the CIO, please ensure that your certificates were not issued more than three months earlier. Police certificates are generally valid for 12 months from the date they are issued. However, if a final decision is not made on your application before the expiry of your police certificate, the visa office may request that you provide a new one.

Hi Michaela,

how did you have FBI sent you back your Identification Record thru Fedex?  Did you do it thru an agent? Please share.

Thanks.

I got my FBI clearance today in exactly 3 weeks and 5 days from the day they received it.
Not sure if I was just lucky this time or this is the usual time these days.

I got it done twice (recent being a month ago) and it took me 5 weeks for the whole process. I suggest you notify Immigration office as soon as you send the application to FBI.

HOw long does it take now to get FBI police clearance? FBI received my fingerprints on 11th May 2012. I sent it through DHL and also sent a prepaid envelope. So any idea how long it will take now roughly?

It usually took me 5- 6 weeks to me three times. So I hope I will get it soon.
1. You can give them your fedex account no.
2. sent it directly to FBI
4. For fingerprints go to local police station.
