Hey there, I was wondering about the background check way of being done. I have provide Damascus office with a local police clearance from Lebanon, FBI and state police clearance from the USA for the time I was there, and on my CAIPs note , they have mention that the CSIS background check is done... So the question: Does that mean the background is done or they reconfirm with the USA and Lebanon to make sure that I am clear?? just to try to know why I haven't got the passport request letter...

Hey Marlena, how are you.. I am good, still waiting of course, maybe like you say after the election I will hear something...But I was wondering, maybe they still doing my background check...no one knows Lebanon is fine, election is everywhere, people are talking only about it, if you go to buy bread, at least 2 people will ask you, where do you vote and for whom...it has become discus ting, I swear to God if all the candidate has given the money they used for their campaign advertising to the government, we were to be debt free...can you believe one of them has put 6 million dollar to the advertising of his campaign. The security issues are still under control and it seem there is no war hopefully..:)) But I really like to know how exactly the background check is done, I didn't find specific information about it on the forum. I am praying for you too, and for the other as well, hopefully God will answer our prayer. Actually, I am not voting, because the town from where my husband is , is far by 1 hour driving or more, and since they are doing all the election in 1 day, that means the traffic will be enormous...so I will be watching the voting on the TV..:))

It means CSIS has completed the security background and with the PCCS the criminal background is complete. They maybe do some further checks, but it is unlikely. So if there are no doubts about the relationship and no interview is required, you should receive a PPR. PMM

I heard Damascus process is very fast but not sure why it takes them a lot of time with Rorita. Boncuk how's your day!!!! I'm so happy i just received good news. I can track my old passport since It was renewed about 5 years ago so I can show more proof when i visited my husband in Lebanon. At least it's a good news for me & hopefully I will receive the information before the end of August. Wish me a luck.

I heard the opposite about Damascus.. I heard they can be pretty tough sometimes. Plus they are probably backlogged now that so many are applying. My day is almost finished :) lol It's about 9 pm here and very hot! Thank god for A/C. That's good about your old passport! How did you manage to track it? I feel really positive about Rorita receiving the PPR soon.. I don't see what else is left for her! I'm praying for us all. I noticed some people are requesting from CSIS if a background check was done on the applicant or no. I think they give a response of Yes No or not requested yet. I wonder how that is done?

Well I hope they somehow delay his application until I go and visit him because I'm gathering a lot of additional documents that I didn't have at the time we got married. Regarding my visit on my old passport I had to requested through Privacy Request Form Act. They told me where to send the form and to write down year and month of my visit. I'm suppose to receive the information within 30 days. It will give me sufficient time before I leave. I'm not sure if they are going to do background on my husband he didn't leave the country more than 5 month the most....but I guess it's a routine checkup right!!!

They do a background check for everyone .. They verify the information in the application, check his associations, political or religious etc.. The police clearance check is another story.

Background check is conducted to check out if applicant or any of his dependents could be involved in espionage or terrorism activities or be of any other danger to Canada. Background check starts shortly after the application was logged in and is conducted parallel to application consideration without applicant's participation.
There is no set timeframe for background check. Its duration can be affected by such factors as military service, foreign trips, membership in political organizations. It takes as much time as it requires.
As for the heat.. I would gladly trade weather with you lol
