To whom it may concern:

I, Joe Doe, invite my friend Jane Fruit to visit my home town for a short vacation. I recently went to St. Petersburg, Russia to see her city and now would like her to see my home town Edmonton, Canada.

I will cover all costs of accommodation and any medical expenses that may arise during her intended visit in Canada. Jane will be residing with me during her stay.

I have attached my 2006 tax assessment, and  tax papers for 2007   and a letter from my work that demonstrate that I have the funds to support Jane Fruit during her stay in Canada.

I would also like to mention her trip to Canada will not exceed two weeks from her arrival date as she only has this time off each year from work.

Everyone applying for a temporary visa might want to read the manual that the officers use to process the applications.  Specifically section 9, Assessing the application.

I'm not a specialist, but I would change some parts on your letter... For example: you said you will cover accommodation and medical costs, but what about the other ones, such as food?

Probably you guys had that idea already, but I would also ask for a letter from her boss, stating that she has only that period of time to travel and must come back after that short trip. Does she study as well? If yes, something proving that too would be nice. 

I have read your other topic about how difficult it is for russian girls to get a visa. I have friends from Ukraine and Russia, and they tell me the same... It couldn't be different with girls from latin america too! I have been waiting them to say "denied" or "approved" since two weeks ago (am trying the canadian visa for the second time - 1st time approved! but expired since june). I think as long as she got the american visa twice and didn't overstay, and has a job, she may get her visa approved. But again, I'm not a specialist, it's just a thought.

Yep it's difficult to get a visitor visa from many places even.  I sent him a copy of the letter I sucessfully used recently by email.  Different circumstances a little but maybe will give him ideas.  Also reading what they think about in the assessment can help you answer all thier concerns.  You may not think to include something but they might look for it.

Our circumstances are a little different too, since it doesn't apply to him I just took out the parts talking about the sponsorship...
I hope my previous visas will help me as well! haha I visited the USA and Canada, didn't overstay not even once, hope they consider that, since I have no job and am not at school right now (finished it). What I sent to the Consulate: forms, passport, receipt of the fees paid, pictures, letter of invitation from my husband, notorized photocopy of his citizenship card, photocopy of his passport, letter of financial support from my parents (since they are giving me this trip as a gift, to visit my husband during Christmas), my parent's income taxes and their bank statements for the last 3 months, photocopies of family properties (I mean, the papers showing it is theirs hehe), letter from me explaining the purposes of the trip and for how long I intend to stay in Canada. Everything in portuguese, except for the forms, letter and documents from my husband - that was all in english.

Just got a call from the office! Visa approved and mailed just now! Yay!
