Assuming I am using a (paid) representative to apply for a temp work visa, is there a way for me to check that the representative has actually submitted the application?

Also, is there a way for me to further check on the status of the application?

Or, will all updates/communications be sent by the VO to the representative?

How do I independently keep track of what the representative is doing?

First ask your representitive that he must send all courieres or post tracking information when he/she send all documents to CIO or CHC during the process. from tracking number you can track your representitive send documents to CIO/CHC or not.

When you get File number (AOR's) you can check your application status using file number (AOR) name date of birth place of birth, your e-case status will display complete information procees of your PR application, this is the only way to check after sending full docs to CHC if you apply by representitive/consultant.
you can send request to local CHC by email but you must have to provide all information of representitive and your information when you communicate/generate query with VO/CHC.

if you have time you can send your PR application by your own, there is no need for consultant but if you dont have time and if you have trust on consultant then apply through consultant.

Thanks for your response, now I have a better idea of the process.

Is this the link where you would check the status :  Client Application Status  ( i.e. https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do?app=ecas )

there are 2 things i did to make sure that i am not a victim of immigration fraud. first, i verified my file number on my ecas. second, i went to the Canadian embassy manila to personally verify if i have an application with them. fortunately, everything that my agent told me are true...  Wink

but if i were you, better apply on your own. a lot of people in the forum can help you out with your queries. good luck!

I am using a consultant, but sometimes I sent a mail to V.O directly and got the answer. If any time you fee that your consultant is playing around, you can ask for the application status directly!!  but keep your emails limited!!

The thing is though, while I would be using a piad consultant, the consultant would not be paid for by me.

The consultant would be paid for by the job agency.....so, the consultant is contracted and paid for by the Job Agency to work on my behalf to get the visa for me.

So natraully, the consultant would be "more inclined" to provide the necessary updates (if any) to job agency....and not me.

(It wouldn't be in the interest of the job agency to delay the application process though)

I guess I would just have to follow up with both the agency and the consultant and hope everything works out.
