Garbage collecting is fully automated; the collector seldom comes in contact with the
garbage.  It is a union job, and it is very difficult to get one.

The garbage collectors operate the truck which is an automated robot which picks up the bins and empties them in the truck, there is no manual labor or contact to garbage so it is entirely safe.

Well friends they are high paid here.....Another thing....High Job ...low Job is not there here.....garbage truck comes once a week...You have to separate the recyclable and regular garbage.....Pack it properly in a garbage bag and keep it out side on the garbage day......truck comes....garbage guy wears gloves and throws it in the truck.....things like paints.....steel.....other hazardous materials you have to go to the dumping ground and give to the guys there....and you have to pay to dump that.....not that bad if you are willing to look at it as an option  Smiley

One more input yes transit operators make good money ...but most of it is because of overtime....they are paid well but a very good ammount comes from over time or driving on weekends and holidays
