It will say on the visa but usually it is one year after the medical exam.  The visa comes shortly after the medical exam so it could be close to a year that you have to move.

Even more.  The time to approve sponsorship is right now average about 7 to 8 weeks, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/canada/process-in.asp#sponsorship  Right now they are working on files sent up to Sept 24 so they might be working on yours right now.

After processing in Canada, your file goes to Abu Dhabi, it takes around 6 months, see http://www.international.gc.ca/missions/unitedarabemirates-emiratsarabesunis/visas/immigrating_can_immigrer-eng.asp#family

If you read my answer above, you will see that you will have to wait a bit longer than a few days for it.  Your sponsorship may be approved by mid December maybe and you could have your PR in the summer sometime.

If the average sponsorship is taking around 7 weeks, then yes, you still need to wait.  7 weeks is on November 10.  Maybe yours is taking a bit more than 7 weeks.  If you don't hear from them by Novermber 20, you can phone them and ask.

Hey Gilani,

Be patience, they have thousands of cases and they are working on them in the order they were received. You married to a Canadian citizen and you will get your PR eventually - Check the Family sponsorship on CIC web site, it is taking 10 months or above from Islamabad.

Make sure you have police report from Dubai as well as from Pakistan ready when they start your case.

good luck..

You applied a barely two months ago, no one will work on your case in two months. They will reply or if you are so much impatience, you can just call ans ask them. Tell your wife to call in Canada and ask them what happened to your case.

As I said earlier, you barely applied in September, how they will process the case in 2 months. You need to be patience and wait for their response. I do not understand what outcome you are looking here in two months of time.

I am not a immigration lawyer, but you can hire one in your case and they will let you know which step your application is.

Hi Gilani,
September to December is a pretty long period. The PR file works in two stages. First is sponsorship approval and then second is PR status approval. Sponsorship approval is given by CIC- Missisauga. Sponsorship approval should be done in around 40 days and PR file will be operated in the country where you are living right now and that takes around 4 to 8 months. So, please track your file, ask CIC, also ask your wife to track the courier service/post whatever she has used to send the application. It should not take 3 months generally in most cases. As CIC- Missisauga are reviewing the applications up to 3rd December. I think, they might have not received your file. So, please check with the post.

Well thank you very much dear for a very clear reply.I appreciated.

Actually we have sent our file on 22 sep 2008 from canada(my wife) and they received on 25 sep(all receipts available). Then we called them aftr 2 months and customer service said call after one month, we did the same and they said we dont have record in system, please call after one more month.we got worried that what is going on?

Really after reading your email my worry is that either they lost our file? or is it possible they loose files like that? who will be responsible the time we lost? and how i am passing days with out my wife counting every sec of life I know?

Also guide us should we need to send again file? Or if this time also they loose then? Really we both are very much worried and tension due to this pethatic situation?

Hi Gilani,
Your situation is really unique. See, in this Christmus time, CIC-mississauga will be very busy and might not give you detailed reply. But next week, tell your wife to talk to CIC agents, tell her to write exact dates in paper, your passport number and your wife's PR number, questions and then she should talk to them. Generally, the Client ID is the PR number of sponsor. They will ask the PR number, name and date of birth of your wife. Tell your wife to ask tem,
"WE HAVE SENT OUR APPLICATION FOR MY HUSBAND'S PR FILE ALONG WITH MY SPONSHIP DOCUMENTS ON 25TH SEPTEMBER 2008, STILL WE HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING SO FAR. WE HAVE INQUIRED WITH COURIER SERVICE AND IT WAS DELIVERED. WHAT SHOULD BE DONE, CAN IT TAKE MORE TIME, AS USUAL TIME IS AROUND 30-40 DAYS. OR DO WE HAVE TO SEND THE APPLICATION AGAIN, PLEASE GUIDE US......
Tell your wife to ask all the options clearly to CIC agent. They are usually very co-operative, we have filled our most of the forms with their help only. I don't want to scare you, but be prepared if you have to submit it again. But before that, ask CIC agents only, ask them that "can it take more time in some cases, and do you think that we will have to file it again or what"??  They will give you proper guidence. Tell them that it is almost three months now, and I believe that it takes around 30-40 days and that gives you tension. Tell them that the post-delivery is confirmed and you have the receipt too. Best of Luck..
