I am a newly arrived student in Canada and I have managed to do the unthinkable.......I have lost my passport. What should I do?!? I read on the CIC website that I can apply for new study permit by paying 30 dollars and submitting documents but there is no gurantee that they will grant it. I also had a TRV and need to replace that as well....... PMM/Seniors please help me...

1.  I assume that you reported your passport lost to the police, who would give you a copy of the report.
2.  You just have to apply for a certified copy of your study permit, as you know $30.  You are not applying for a new permit, just a copy of your existing one.
3.  Once you have a new passport you could apply by mail to one of the Canadian consulates in the US for a new TRV, note you will need the copy of the study permit and passport.
