Hi, I would like to know if I am eligable to sponsor my brother. My brother is currently studying on student visa in Australia. My status is PR. I do not work and my husband salary meets the required income. Does canadian immigration does a credit check on sponsor as my husband credit is not good. Also does the income requirement change if I sponser my parents as well. Any feedback would be great. Thanks

I do not believe your brother is eligible to be sponsored - if he is over 18.
See:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/index.asp
for further info.
Also, if your brother is under 30 - look up BUNAC.
To sponsor parents you need to meet the income requirements but can have your husband co-sign. You will need to meet the figure on CIC site.

You can sponsor your parents and siblings as dependents of your parents assuming they meet the eligibility requirements. So even if your brother is over 18 (22 is the cut off age for dependent children in this type). If they are 22 or older but are engaged in continuous studies AND still financially dependent on your parents they would still qualify as dependents as long as they are not married or in a common law relationship and have no dependents of their own (children). There's a few tricky exceptions here but it's rare.
For LICO, count your household plus the total number of people being sponsored to see the required amount of income. Yes, your husband can co-sign.

I completely defer to rjessome (Gee you're good!) I did not take into account sponsoring parents with brother attached, I was looking at brother THEN parents etc.

Hi Whoopi,
Heehee, maybe that diploma is worth something after all! :o)
I know you have your AOR now so the clock is ticking for you. I predict some relatively speedy processing for you. I'll bet you have a great application in front of them. Which part of BC are you planning to settle in? I'm in BC too.
