Hi,

So I am a dual Canadian/U.S. sponsor sponsoring my common-law partner while we live together in Kentucky, U.S.A. We have been filling out the application for Sponsorship of a spouse etc living outside Canada.

The entire time, we have been thinking that we are to send the application to Buffalo, NY. Tonight is our big last hoorah of making sure all our ducks are in a row as we plan to send our application out next week. Going over everything on the CIC website, I am repeatedly seeing that we are to send the application off to Mississauga, ON. Can anyone give me some clarification about this?

Where is  the applicant living in the last 12 months?
US?
OUTLAND...which is CPC Miss, ON

You can NOT send your appp to the outland embassies..just follow inland/outland within canada and they will take care......

outland = cpc misss

Yes, my partner, the applicant has been living with me in the U.S. for well over the past 12 months. Okay, so we send it to Mississauga and they handle it from there.

I'm so confused as to why we had been thinking Buffalo this whole time.

You send the application to Mississauga, and then CIC sends it to Buffalo. Buffalo is where your application will be processed.

Mississauga processes the Sponsor's portion of the application and then forwards the application for Permanent Residance to Buffalo (for US citizens, etc).

Sponsor application is processed in Mississauga.
Then it's sent by Mississauga to the Visa Office, in your case, Buffalo, and they process the sponsored person(s) part of the application.

It's a little confusing at first.
