help to start credit in canada

i need some info about to start credit in canada as i moved from US and my credit history was not that
good does that reflect here to start credit in canada.

I guess it will not affect since it is another Country. (not sure among US & Canada)

I wrote to HSBC bank at Toronto with almost the same question; down here in my country I have a  very good credit, they told me that it does not matter, I shall start from Zero in canada
