I am a Canadian Citizen (Naturalized) and I've been a resident of Vancouver for 17 years now.  I recently got married this January and we were on the process of sponsoring my wife.  We halted everything once we found out she was pregnant due to the fact that it wasn't safe for her to undergo a medical exam, x-ray in particular.  But now the baby is born last September, we are getting back in track.  However, I've read that my baby will inherit my Canadian citizenship and all I have to do is apply for her Certificate of Canadian Citizenship.  I've downloaded the application and Im a little confuse, do they require the baby's photo?  At the moment my wife and my baby are both in the Philippines, and, correct me if I'm wrong, I believe I'll have to apply for the Certificate for the baby at the Canadian embassy in the Philippines, right?

I'll be going back to Philippines this december to spend time w/ my baby and wife and I'll be on my parental leave as well.  Reading from this forums, it is possible for me to sponsor my wife while in Philippines for 1) I am a naturalized canadian, and 2) I did not inherit my Canadian citizenship from my parents.  Though, I have to prove that I will be intending to reside in Canada in the future (am I correct in this sense?) what proof or documentation do they require?  I've been trying to contact them through phone, and w/ my schedule at work, I am going nowhere.  A note from work will do? bills under my name?

Furthermore, on the application for my wife's sponsorship, do we as well put the baby too?  The way I see it if I'm applying for my baby's Certificate of Canadian Citizenship and put her as well on my wife's application, wouldn't that conflict with the application? Should I just put the baby under my wife's application?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

"If your child was born in Canada or if one of its parents is a Canadian citizen, the child is therefore a Canadian citizen. If that is the case, you do not need to add the child to your application, no medical examination or fee is required. You must, however, send us a copy of his or her birth certificate. The child must have a Canadian passport to enter Canada.

If this is not the case, you must add the child to your application by sending us a copy of the birth certificate along with 4 identity photos. Your child will have to undergo a medical examination. If the child is accompanying you to Canada, you will also have to pay the required fees, submit a copy of the child's passport and obtain a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) in his or her name if your province of destination is Quebec."

This is from the canadian website.  You just need to send the birth certificate.

This is not quite correct.  Start by using this tool to determine if the baby qualify for Canadian citizenship:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/rules/index.asp

Furthermore, it is not necessary to enter Canada with a Canadian passport.

You can sponsor your wife while you are in the phillipines. I am not sure you will need to show proof of your return since you will only be residing in Phil temporarily and I assume will keep your job/home aswell. It is only if you are no longer resident in Canada that you must provide proof, and I don't think staying out there while on Pat leave will count.

If you apply for the baby's citizenship then she will not need to be included on the sponsorship application as she will already be a citizen.
