I am here in Alberta on a tourist visa, and i applied and got a job offer and LMO approval, the recruitment specialist told me to have a change of status application to Vegreville and i submitted the required documents yesterday, Now I just found out from researching and forums that I cannot apply for work permit within Canada. What can I do? I also paid a processing fee of 150$. PLease help if anyone has experience or information. Thank you

1.  Pretty stupid recruitment specialist.
2.  Your application will be refused and returned, so you if you don't require a medical, then you can head down to the Border and "flagpole" and apply for your work permit at re-admission to Canada.

I'm planning to go home to the Philippines (home country) when i get the refused application. Do you suggest I apply for the work permit there or I should apply from the US where i have a tourist visa as well? Please suggest. thanks

Well if you are Filipino you will need a TRV to enter Canada, and a medical exam as well, so you will have to apply to Manila.  If you are applying as a live in Care giver, you are looking at 12-18 months for the processing.

Thanks for your reply, its a fastfood work. How long will the processing in Manila be?  also What should I do to my applcation sent in Vegreville? I may still wait for it before i book a flight back home. Thanks

Don't think fast food work will qualify you for an LMO.

I hope you didn't pay that recruitment specialist too much money.

I already have an approved LMO . Its mcdonalds. and I didnt pay the recruitment specialist anything.

sir just want know if this is the case of mark94703 how long does it process a work permit when he apply at the border? and what does "flagpole" means? Thanks and more power...
