Help Please!! How do I find out if I actually overstayed my temporary visa??

HI there,

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how do I find out if I actually overstayed on a temporary visa?? I am planning a trip back to Vancouver in Jan 2011 and want to avoid a potentially embarrassing and expensive refusal of entry at the airport. I originally entered Canada in Feb 07 on a one year working holiday visa and by Jan 08 wanted to stay longer so went to see a immigration lawyer (Carlos Alaniz) who got me a temporary visa, and a second one once that ran out. However I just assumed Carlos got me the second visa (he never contacted me to say that it wasn't approved and any messages I left he never returned). Anyway I ended leaving Canada and flying back home to Australia in December 08 and have not returned since but my Canadian boyfriend now wants to return to Canada to visit his family and I would like to go with him but I'm scared I may be refused entry because I don't know if I overstayed or not. I have tried contacting Carlos via email recently but the message was returned like the address no longer exists. Please help!!

Hi, you are not the first person I hear with this same issue and interestingly enough caused by the same person (immigration consultant/lawyer). You can contact me to share with you these other experiences of people who went through the same situation as you and advice you what you can do.

Hopefully is not too late and you still want to come to visit beautiful Canada!

Why you dont make a complaint to CSIC?

Another friend had the same problem with this consultor, so make a complaint then he has to stop to work doing immigration..

   Well, this guy did the same thing to me, but he actualy told me he did renew mi visitor visa, I ended phoning Immigration Canada and they told me he never filed anything, by that time I've been 4 months as "ilegal" in the country. When I found out I had to come back to my country and stayed there for 2 months until my problem was solved.  I did complaint with CSIC and for 3 years I've been going through this process, about two weeks ago I got a letter from CSIC leting me know that he's not a member anymor (Thankfuly)

So the answer will be NO....don't go through this consultant, he just takes your money, and then he will pretend he's working on your case....it took me $2,000 dollars to realize.
