HELP! need straight answer

hey all,
I'm currently here in Ottawa on holidays visiting my family for the summer. i've also just finished my bachelor of art degree back in ireland and have begun thinking of staying here and working for a year before returning to school. however i have yet found one person that could give my a straight answer on how to obtain a work permit and social insurance number.
can anybody shed some light on my situation please?? i'd really appreciate your help.

Unless you have a work permit, Service Canada will NOT issue you a SIN.  The OP has to find an employer, the employer has to advertise the job on the job bank for 2 weeks, explain to HRSDC why no Canadians/PR were qualified for the position when they apply for the LMO.  IF an LMO is approved then the OP could apply for a work permit at a Border Port, if they didn't require a medical.  Note the OP could apply for 1 year working holiday visa through Bunac or Swap.
