Hi
Hi there,
My friend, she comes from france, and she wants to go to the university in vancouver. but before she starts, she wants to work in vancouver for a while to see if she really likes the city and stay there for the next four years. So here is her plan. Could anyone tell me if the plan actually works?
1, get a travel-work permit for 1 year
2, apply the study permit
3, after graduate she might apply a complete work permit again.
The reason she asks is becuz that someone told her, as long as she applies for work permit she couldnt get a study permit anymore. So just wanna comfirm. thank you everyone!
1. She can apply for an IEC (International Experience Canada) allowing her to work for 1 year in Canada with an open work permit. See:
http://www.international.gc.ca/canada-europa/france/jeunesse-youth/pvt-whp-en.asp She has to be between 18 and 30.
2. She can apply for a study permit, but she will pay international fees, about $12K per year and will have to show $10K for living expenses and $2K for transportation.
3. Once she obtains a study permit, her work permit would no longer be valid.
