Guys,
We are landing on 15th September in Toronto and my wife is pregnant.

Do you think we shall be granted health cards earlier than three months due to my wife condition?
In case our health cards also take as long as three months then what should we do? Should we go for private insurance?
Any suggestion on the health strategy.

No - she won't be given health care coverage earlier because she is pregnant. Unfortunately she will have to wait three months before she has coverage and no exceptions are made.

Purchasing private health care coverage also won't fix this problem. Pregnancy is classified as a pre-existing condition by the insurance companies and isn't covered.

Unfortunately the short answer is that any costs relating to her pregnancy (including check ups and even the delivery itself) will have to be paid out of your own pocket during those first three months.

If i land as principal applicant and return (due to my employment commitments) and in the same time let my wife deliver the baby in December and later add the newcomer, will this option work better ?

Nope, you have to return to Canada and then sponsor the child.  By that time your spouses medical/visa will probably have expired, and her application will start from "scratch"
