health cover during workpermit renewal

Hi All,
 I am living in canada on a workpermit for  the last one year with my family, my workpermit has expired on march 31st and i am waiting for the renewal and currently its taking 135 days. my OHIP also exired as of march 31st,
i) could I renew my OHIP before receiving my work permit
ii) can I claim the medial expense i incured during this period from OHIP

No, they will want to see a copy of you new work visa (TWP) to renew

No again, without the valid work visa you are not covered. If you have it you should be able to claim on  health insurance you have from your employer

I am already in canada does that mean if I have to renew my OHIP i need the work permit or  TRV.

You need a work permit.

A TRV does not give you access to OHIP.
